FACEBOOK UNHOOK · MICROSOFT EDGE

Privacy policy

The group list and settings stay in the browser. The publisher does not receive this data.

Last updated: October 22, 2026.

This policy describes Facebook Unhook for Microsoft Edge. The publisher is Stefan Kania. Support and privacy contact: jsnetic@outlook.com.

Data accessed and its purpose

The extension locally analyzes elements of www.facebook.com: post headings and links, the current view’s address and interface elements such as reels, stories, navigation and contacts. This is used to filter feeds and hide selected parts of the page. Post content, comments and the contact list are not saved in extension storage.

When group-list reading is started, the extension opens and scrolls “Your groups”. It reads group names, identifiers, addresses and membership status from the visible list, embedded page data and responses already retrieved by Facebook. Responses may temporarily contain other data; only group records needed for filtering are retained. The extension does not visit each group separately or send its own requests to Facebook’s API.

Stored data

The following records are saved in the extension’s local storage in the Microsoft Edge profile:

  • group names, identifiers and alternative addresses;
  • the selection of groups whose posts should be hidden;
  • feature and language settings;
  • the date and status of the last group-list refresh.

These records preserve settings and allow the filter to work after a page is reopened. The extension does not synchronize them to the cloud. The list belongs to the browser profile, not the Facebook account. Refresh it after switching accounts or changing group memberships.

Data transmission and sharing

The extension does not send the data it reads to the publisher or other recipients. It has no server of its own, analytics, telemetry, advertising or user accounts. It does not sell data or use it for advertising profiles. It does not read passwords, cookies or login tokens.

Facebook continues making its normal network requests while its website is used and scrolled. These requests are governed by Facebook’s policies. Installing and updating the extension through Microsoft Edge Add-ons is governed by Microsoft’s policies.

Control, retention and deletion

Individual features or the entire extension can be turned off in the menu. Turning it off does not delete the saved list or settings. Data remains in the browser profile until it is replaced, removed by the browser or deleted by uninstalling the extension.

To delete local extension data, open edge://extensions and remove Facebook Unhook. The publisher has no access to this storage and cannot remotely read, change or delete the saved data. Extension switches do not change group memberships or Facebook account settings.

Email support

If you email support, the publisher receives your email address and message. This information is used to handle the request and correspondence. It is not automatically linked to local extension data. Requests to delete correspondence can be sent to the same address.

This website

This policy covers the extension. Visits to the Brick Fiction website hosting this document are covered by the separate website privacy policy, which describes matters including hosting and visitor statistics. Website statistics are not an extension feature.

Policy changes

The current version will remain available at this address with its update date. Changes to data handling will be reflected in this policy alongside changes to the extension.
